Japanese Modern
Our clients wanted a contemporary take on the Japanese garden style. We used wonderful limestone from the UK with inlaid ipe pads. The limestone wall is inspired by and shaped like a Tansu chest. The water wall was fabricated by the incredible Jefferson Mack - we used silicon bronze and gold leaf to create the labyrinth that is illuminated in the evening. Even the fencing is extraordinary, all Brazilian handcrafted hardwood, with unique and original detailing on all four sides of the garden. The southern side of the garden has a wonderful weeping flowering cherry hedge along the entire length of the garden. The driveway is reclaimed granite from the Yangtse River and inspired by an ancient Japanese pathway.
